The natural bay that constitutes the port of Aegiali is situated in the north part of the island of Amorgos (in the antiquity also known as "Pangali", "Psychia" or "Κarkisia") in the south-east of Cyclades.
The great prominence of Amorgos is due to the renowned Monastery of Panagia Hozoviotissa in the eastern part of the island. Built in a cliff and in great height above the sea, the Monastery offers an exceptional view. Visitors from all over the world enjoy the hospitality of the monks and the unique interior architecture of the cloister. The permanent inhabitants of Amorgos are no more than two thousand during the winter months. The island's main financial income derives from fishing, tourism and agriculture (production of olive oil and wine).
At
a distance of 148 nautical miles from Pireas, Amorgos is accessible by
means of ferries to the Eastern Cyclades and Dodecanese. Aegiali Bay is a touristically developing, traditional community, which comprises many restaurants and bars.
Τhe studios Elichryson are located on the peripheral road of the village, at only a few metres' distance from Aegiali's community clinic, and enjoy the view from an elevated position in the village. |
